Friday, June 29, 2007 Model United NationsThe 5th IP Symposium started today. For the Year 3 IP, we have a Model United Nations Conference (MUN). It's basically a debate-like thing, but it follows the actual United Nations style of debating issues. The process is very complicated. First you must submit a position paper, which is our country's stand on a particular issue. There are 4 or 5 committees, depending on whether or not your country is a Security Council member: Political, EcoSoc, Environment, Human Rights, (Security Council). Each country has one delegate in each committee. Ok I won't go into too much detail; it's too long to write all anyway. But just understand this: there are tonnes of decorum and stuff like that, including votes and all, that takes place at a single meeting (now I know why UN meetings always tkae so long). It's so confusing that I dunno whether I'll be able to use the correct terms and all. What's the point with politically correct speech when everyone knows whether or not there's really an insult or something behind the sweet words? Haha. Anyway, this week has been quite fast for me, because I don't have any homework I suppose, only lots of pass-up-in-2-weeks-time-or-more projects and assignments. That's all I have to write about. God bless! |
